BENGALURU: The Supreme Court verdict convicting Sasikala Natarajan, Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi is yet to reach the registrars of the High Court as well as civil and sessions court in the city.

The judicial officers were expecting it anytime, after the judgment was pronounced on Tuesday morning. However, till evening, neither the High Court nor the civil court received the communication from the apex court, sources said.

On receiving the communication from the apex court, the registrar of the civil court will take steps to list the case before the special judge Ashwathnarayana, 48th city civil and sessions court, who is having the concurrent charge of the trial court which convicted Sasikala and others.

If the convicted surrender before the court in compliance with the apex court order, the judge will pass an order to secure the convicted to serve the sentence in the central prison at Parappana Agrahara in the city.

If they do not surrender before the trial court even after it receives the communication, then the trial court will issue a warrant to secure the convicted, said sources.

In its order, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said the convicted would surrender before the Trial Court forthwith. The Ttrial court is also ordered to take immediate steps to ensure that the convicted serve out the remainder of the sentence awarded them and take further steps in compliance of this judgment, in accordance with law, the SC order stated, which is expected by Wednesday.

The police have also made elaborate arrangements, after discussing with the judicial officers of the city civil and sessions court, to maintain law and order during the surrender of the convicted before the trial court.

After receiving the feedback on the law and order situation, the judiciary will take a final call on whether the proceedings be conducted in the trial court in city civil court complex or in the special court at Parappana Agrahara, sources said.
