MANDYA : A woman committed suicide on Thursday, after her nude videos were circulated on WhatsApp by a friend of her husband. The deceased is Sita (25), wife of Manju and a resident of Somanahalli in Maddur taluk.
The couple had married six years ago and have a five-year-old daughter. According to family members Arjun, friend of Manju, who had a relationship with Sita, circulated the videos on WhatsApp.
Arjun, a railway employee and a resident of Boodanooru village, was a close friend of Manju for the last ten years. He used to visit Manju’s house frequently, and had developed an extra-marital affair with Sita for the last three years.
Recently, Sugandhini, wife of Arjun, who came to know about their relationship informed Manju about it. In turn, Manju asked Sita not to meet Arjun and end the relationship.
When Sita started avoiding Arjun, he blackmailed her, threatening of posting her nude videos on social media. When she declined to continue with the relationship, he circulated the videos on WhatsApp.
Sita was shattered after the videos were circulated on WhatsApp, and allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday night, writing a death note stating that Arjun was responsible for her death.
Security was beefed up in the village to avoid any untoward incident. Police have formed a team to find Arjun who is absconding. A case has been registered at Maddur Police Station.
