HUBBALLI: Two persons, including a newly married man, died in on Friday morning reportedly for want of medical treatment amidst the ongoing doctors’ strike in Karnataka.
According to sources, Ravi Veerappa Bhajantri (22), the newly married man from Gajendragad of Gadag district had been diagnosed with dengue fever and was suffering for the last three days.
On Friday morning, his family took him to get the treatment to various private hospitals in Gajendragad. But he was not admitted because of the strike and he was finally admitted at a local government hospital.
Since the hospital did not have the facilities to treat him, the doctors told them to take him to Gadag district hospital but Bhajantri died on Friday around 11.30 am.
In another incident in Puttur near Mangaluru, a girl suffering from kidney issues succumbed due to lack of medical treatment. A family member said that she was rushed to a private hospital in Puttur after the kidney problem intensified.
But due to the ongoing strike, no doctors were available at the hospital to treat her, which resulted in her death.
