Police open fire at Kalaburagi dacoits as they attack personnel in escape-bid

In the attack, constables Bhima Naik and Bandenawaz sustained injuries on the chest and were admitted to the Basaveshwara hospital.

KALABURAGI: Police opened fire at two dacoits when they tried to manhandle the police and escape, on Thursday morning on the outskirts of Kalaburagi, Kalaburagi SP Shashikumar said.

Police sources said that based on a tip-off, a team of police comprising of police sub-inspectors Parashuram and Wahid Kotwal and few other police personnel went to Ashraya Colony on the outskirts of Kalaburagi and tried to arrest the dacoits. At that time the dacoits Shekhar and Ajim manhandled the police and tried to escape. PSI Parashuram and Wahid Kotwal fired at the dacoits and as a result Shekhar and Ajim sustained bullet injuries on their legs and fell down. Both the dacoits were arrested and were admitted to the district government hospital. Other two dacoits escaped, the SP said. Both the arrested dacoits are residents of Aland check post and they are the associates of rowdy sheeter market Satish who is already in jail.

In the attack, constables Bhima Naik and Bandenawaz sustained injuries on the chest. They were admitted to the Basaveshwara hospital. Kalaburagi SP Shashikumar, Additional SP Jayaprakash and Assistant SP Lokesh went to the Basaveshwara hospital and consoled the injured constables. A case has been registered at Kalaburagi-Rural Police station. SP said that there were cases of dacoity, attempt to murder against both the accused in different police stations of the district.
