924 building projects to be blacklisted

In all, 1,626 notices have been issued to developers for flouting RERA norms since its introduction across the state.

BENGALURU:  As many as 924 construction projects across the state which had failed to respond to notices will be blacklisted by government under RERA (Real Estate Regulatory Authority), Urban Development and Housing Minister U T Khader said on Thursday.These projects had not been registered under RERA and were issued notices. 

“Since they did not respond to our notices, we will blacklist them,” he told mediapersons.  In all, 1,626 notices have been issued to developers for flouting RERA norms since its introduction across the state. In 604 cases, developers had submitted satisfactory replies and some projects were also completed. In order to identify more projects not complying with RERA rules, he said officials had begun to scrutinise brochures and paper advertisements.

The urban local bodies were also asked to list out projects as soon as plan approvals were issued, he added. In response to a query, Khader  said 572 complaints had been submitted under violation of RERA provisions and 221 have been disposed of. “On an average, complaints are being disposed of in about two months,” he added.  The minister said builders had requested the department to modify a rule that makes it mandatory for them to register with RERA after securing plan sanction within three months.

Single window system to make building a house easier

With the Urban Development Department planning to launch a single window system, those planning to build homes will no more have to run from pillar to post. “An applicant from the comfort of his house will receive building plan and change of land use among other facilities,’’ Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader said on Thursday.    “If the departments do not reply within seven days, then it is deemed to have given permission,’’ he said, adding that the entire process is expected to be completed within 30 days.
