BENGALURU: Barely six months after eight juveniles under remand at the juvenile home for boys in Madiwala in the city escaped after cutting through the iron grill installed in the toilets, nine boys pulled off a similar stunt at the same home on Monday.

According to a remand home official, the incident took place around 8.30 am when the nine boys went into the shower rooms. They locked themselves inside the rooms, broke open the grill of the window, and escaped. The caretaker, who grew suspicious, broke open the door to find that the boys had escaped. He then alerted the Madiwala police who rushed to the spot.

Sources, however, said police did not find any clues besides the fact that the boys had used an iron rod to break open the grill.Of the nine, aged between 15 and 17, two are from Tumakuru, one from Bengaluru rural district, and the remaining six are from the city.

A senior official at the juvenile home said the authorities had decided to hold a departmental enquiry into the repeated incidents of inmates escaping.
