HUBBALLI: Strict action will be taken against officials and contractors who delay work or execute poor quality of jobs. The department will not compromise on the quality of road works and all work should be completed within the given deadline, PWD Minister H D Revanna said.

Speaking at a meeting in Hubballi on Sunday, Revanna said that all officials of the department have been instructed not to leave their headquarters until the end of the rainy season. “Instructions have been given to temporarily fill roads that are damaged due in rain. Soon after the rainy season comes to an end, permanent measures will be taken to repair the roads,” he said.

Revanna said six works are being taken up in Hubballi under Central Road Funds. The state government is yet to release `36 crore for the project. The PWD has undertaken the project to lay 33 kilometres of roads at an estimated cost of `97 crore.

He also informed that the construction of the new court building in Hubballi has been completed and the officials are waiting for a date to be declared by the Chief Justice of India for its opening.H D Revanna said that the coalition government is good for one year and there is no danger to it, as of now. Revanna reiterated the statement of his father and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy regarding the uncertainty prevailing over the survival of the coalition government after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.“But we are not sure of its future after that,” he said. However, he later clarified that the government would complete the five-year term.

The minister clarified that there was no rift between him and Minister D K Shivakumar. The PWD Minister blamed a section of people for calling him a ‘super CM’. “I am not interfering into the works of other ministers. I have made transfer requests for my department and the CM will take a call on this issue. PWD is my mother department and I am happy with it,” he said.

Revanna hinted that senior MLC Basavaraj Horatti would be inducted into the cabinet after G T Deve Gowda relieved himself from the Higher Education minister’s post and got the Excise portfolio.
