MANGALURU: A video of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressing displeasure over the presentation of a fresh budget, set off ripples in political circles on Sunday.

In a video that was broadcast on some television channels, the coalition government’s coordination committee chief Siddaramaih purportedly told his followers, who met him at Shanthivana in Dharmasthala, that presenting a fresh budget was not necessary as it’s not a majority government and it’s the Congress budget which is ongoing.

The video shows him saying that the Chief Minister can present a budget if JD(S) had come to power with a full majority. The video shows 6-7 persons conversing with him including MLAs S T Somashekar, Byrathi Basavaraju and a seer. This incident comes after  Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy got the green signal from AICC chief Rahul Gandhi to present a fresh budget for the state.

Sources said Siddaramaiah was upset over his followers recording his conversation and leaking it on TV channels. He asked Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar, who met him on Sunday to direct Dakshina Kannada SP Ravikantegowda not to allow anyone to meet him at Shanthivana.
