BENGALURU: The betting markets and satta bazaar are buzzing with high-stake bets, giving Congress a clear majority of well over 115 seats, while predicting less than 70 seats for BJP and under 30 for JDS. While some are giving the Grand Old Party a simple majority, others are giving a full majority.
A reliable source said, “The bets and odds offered on Tuesday by most bookmakers made Congress a clear favourite. For someone who took the bet that Congress would get 112-130 seats, the operator offered double the money. But the odds are against BJP, and for a person placing a bet that BJP would get 100 seats, the operators are offering 3-1 odds. If you wager Rs 1,000, you will get Rs 4,000 if the saffron party
reaches that mark. It means the chances of that happening are low. On BJP getting 70-85 seats, the odds are 80/100. If you bet Rs 1,000, you will get Rs 1,800.
If a bettor takes the position that Congress would emerge as the single-largest party, it is 90/100 -- it means if you place a bet of Rs 1,000, you will get back Rs 1,900. A person placing a bet of Rs 1,000 predicting that BJP would emerge as the single-largest party would get back Rs 3,500- 4,000.
A person wagering Rs 1,000 on JDS getting 25-30 seats will get Rs 2,500. If the bet is on JDS winning more than 31 seats, the person will get Rs 3,500 in return.”
Most satta markets gave Congress clear numbers -- the Phalodi Satta Bazaar gave Congress 137 seats, BJP 55 and JDS 30 seats. The Palanpur Satta Market gave Congress 141 seats, BJP 57 and JDS 24, the Karnal Satta Market gave Congress 124, BJP 69 and JDS 24, while the Bohri Satta Market gave Congress 149 seats, BJP 48 and JDS 22.
