TUMAKURU: Former deputy chief minister and senior Congress leader Dr G Parameshwara, who welcomed the exit polls giving an edge to the Grand Old Party, however, expressed scepticism over the performance of the EVMs.

At a polling station in Koratagere at Badakanahalli, an EVM’s VVPAT showed the vote for a BSP candidate, despite a voter pressing the button for the Congress, he claimed. Soon the EVM was changed, and by then about 300 voters had exercised their franchise.

“I will see what action the district election officer is going to take,” he told reporters, stressing that there was a demand for the reintroduction of the ballot system in the elections in India, claiming that incidents of EVMs malfunctioning are a matter of grave concern.
