Poll loss: Bommai meets Sudhakar, Somanna

BENGALURU:  After a humiliating defeat in the Assembly elections, the state BJP has started analysis the reasons for the poor show. On Tuesday, outgoing Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai met several unsuccessful BJP candidates individually. 

He met former Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar in the morning. Sudhakar lost the polls from Chikkaballapura. Later in the day, Bommai met former Housing Minister V Somanna who lost from Varuna and Chamarajanagara Assembly constituencies.

He said that Somanna will bounce back in politics. “In the coming days, Somanna will get a good chance. We stand by him in these tough days. Somanna is a senior leader and has worked for people for over 40 years. As Hosuing Minister, his contribution to Bengaluru is immense. He developed Govindarajanagar as a model constituency,” Bommai said.  Bommai said, “In the next 2-3 days,  a BJP Legislature Party meeting will be called,” he added.

Joshi on Kateel’s replacement 
Union minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Prahalad Joshi on Tuesday hinted that BJP state chief Nalin Kumar Kateel is likely to be replaced. Joshi said that Kateel had already completed three years as state party chief and that he was also given an extension in wake of elections.
