DAVANGERE: Coming down heavily against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, BJP leader and former CM BS Yediyurappa said, “Siddaramaiah is another name for betrayal of trust and confidence. After becoming CM, the Siddaramaiah-led state government has been busy with daylight robberies -- transfers, commissions and scams.”

At a press conference here on Tuesday, he accused the Congress of corruption, highlighting the MUDA and the Rs 187 crore ST Corporation scam.

He said Minister Nagendra’s resignation in connection with the Valmiki Corporation scam is an old issue, but people should not forgive the ruling party for betraying the ST community. “The government is running according to the Congress’ whims and fancies, putting development works on the back burner and not considering the interests of the people,” he said.

Stating that the present government is the most corrupt, Yediyurappa said people will teach a lesson to the party in the Davangere and Bagalkot bypolls. “The Congress government has bankrupted the state in the name of its guarantee schemes. The roads are in a pathetic state. Not even a single kilometer of road is being built. Farmers are not being provided electricity. The prices of all available goods have increased, burdening the people of the state. When we were in power, we had given Rs 4,000 crore under the Raita Kisan Samman Yojana. It has betrayed people by transferring Rs 38,000 crore for the guarantee schemes from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes fund,” Yediyurappa said.

He said people across the state are fed up with the Congress misrule. “The bypolls are not just about electing an MLA. Voters have got an opportunity to teach a befitting lesson to the corrupt Congress on behalf of the people of the state. The bypolls will be a barometer for the 2028 Assembly elections.”
