BENGALURU: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), in an order on March 31, announced continuation of the Discounted Energy Rate Scheme (DERS) for the financial years 2026-27 and 2027-28.

Earlier, the DERS scheme was limited only for HT consumers. But in its latest orders, KERC extended it for LT-3 and LT-5 installations (commercial, industrial and agricultural consumers).

It was announced that open access consumers are permitted to opt for the scheme. Under this scheme, listed consumers are provided electricity at a lower rate. It was introduced in 2021 in Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (BESCOM) limits.
