

KOPPAL: The parents of a school-going minor girl have alleged that she was raped, and a case was registered at the Rural Police Station a year after the incident. Seven accused have been arrested in connection with the case and remanded in judicial custody.
According to the complaint, when the girl was at the Koppal bus stand, a youth named Harsha took her on a motorcycle and gave her a juice that allegedly made her drowsy. He then took her to the outskirts of a village, where he allegedly raped her and recorded the act on video. The complaint states that he sent the video to the girl’s mobile phone and repeatedly made calls demanding that she cooperate with him sexually. He allegedly screen-recorded the calls and shared the video with his friends.
The incident reportedly took place on October 10, 2025. Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother on August 8, a case was registered at the Rural Police Station under the POCSO Act. The complainant had named only two persons, Harsha and Kiran, in the FIR.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Ram L. Arasiddi said that seven persons have been arrested in connection with the circulation of the video and remanded in judicial custody.
MAN SENTENCED TO 5 YRS OF IMPRISONMENT IN POCSO CASE
MANGALURU: The 7th additional district and sessions court has sentenced 64-year-old Abdulla, a resident of Kadaba, to five years of simple imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 35,000 in a POCSO case registered under Bellare Police Station in the year 2020. Abdulla owns a shop at Kudmaaru in Kadaba. Abdulla sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl who had visited his shop to purchase tender coconut. Abdulla also threatened the victim not to disclose the matter to anyone.
Based upon the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, a case has been registered at Bellare Police Station under section 354A(1), 506 of IPC and section 8 of the POCSO Act. Judge Suman-gala Chakalabbi pronounced the judgement and sentenced the accused to 5 years of simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 35,000, while Kudriya Pushparaj Adyanthaaya represented the state. ens
47-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR FOLLOWING 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL
MANGALURU: Bantwal Town Police have arrested a 47-year-old man in a POCSO case. The arrested man has been identified as Jayanth (47), a resident of Sarapady, Bantwal. The accused, Jayanth, was allegedly following a 16-year-old minor girl on a bus. When the victim reached Kalladka bus stand on August 19, he allegedly followed and stalked her. Fearing for her safety, the victim rushed to the complainant’s shop and informed her parents. Later, the accused was confronted and a complaint was filed.
A case has been registered at Bantwal Town Police Station.
