BENGALURU: The Karnataka Legislature on Monday approved the first installment of supplementary budget estimates amounting to Rs 7,042.69 crore under the Karnataka Appropriation Bill for 2026-27.
Major allocations include Rs 2,918 crore for the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission(Gramin) scheme (VB-G RAM-G), Rs 781 crore for Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha-a flagship programme of the Congress government to establish youth clubs under the jurisdiction of all gram panchayats and urban local bodies ensuring Rs 10 lakh for each club annually.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar tabled the proposal in both Houses.
Of the total amount, Rs 4,324.35 crore is earmarked for revenue expenditure and Rs 2,718.35 crore for capital expenditure.
The supplementary estimates include Rs 289 crore under Jaladhare, with Rs 1 crore allocated to each rural Assembly constituency for providing drinking water in drought-affected areas.
Another Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked as infrastructure capital for road development in Bengaluru, Rs 708 crore under the AMRUT scheme, and Rs 193.61 crore towards the government motor vehicle tax equity-share modification for Road Transport Corporations.
Rs 96 crore for KKRTC bus purchases
The package also provides Rs 152.72 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Rs 93 crore for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), Rs 91 crore for Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam, Rs 96 crore for KKRTC bus purchases and Rs 738 crore for other projects. The estimates were approved by both Houses of the Legislature.
