BENGALURU: In a gruesome incident, a 22-year-old woman and her live-in partner allegedly murdered her parents and her 19-year-old sister at her flat in Seegehalli in KR Puram police limits on Monday night. Their objection to the live-in relationship of the accused is suspected to be the reason behind the murders.

The police are also looking into the financial angle as the accused woman had a loan of around Rs 30 lakh and was demanding her share of the property from her parents, who had refused. Both the accused are on the run.

The father of the accused woman, before succumbing to stab injuries, revealed the reasons to the police and held his daughter and her live-in partner responsible for the killings. The KR Puram police have registered a case.

The victims are identified as Soma Sundar (52), his wife Muthulakshmi (48) and their daughter Supriya (19). The accused are Shwetha and her boyfriend Kenneth.

The incident occurred around 8.30 pm at the flat of the accused at Seegehalli.

Victims were against daughter’s inter-faith relationship with boyfriend

The three victims had come from Tamil Nadu on Sunday and were staying at Shwetha’s flat. They went out on Monday and returned to flat around 8 pm.

Muthulakshmi entered the flat first and was murdered by the accused. They then tried to hide her body in the bathroom. The daughter, Supriya, who followed the mother, saw the gory sight and started screaming. Shwetha allegedly held her tight, while Kenneth stabbed her multiple times. Sundar rushed to the flat and he too was stabbed in the neck. But he managed to stumble out of the flat and collapsed. The other residents called the police control room.

The police arrived at the spot and rushed Sundar to a hospital. As he was being taken, he told the police to check on his wife and daughter as they were inside the flat, and revealed the reason for the attack on them by their daughter. But he died by the time he was taken to the hospital.

Sundar was a software engineer, his wife a homemaker and Supriya a student. Shwetha, a BTech graduate, fell in love with Kenneth at their workplace and they started living at the flat for the last two months. But Sundar and his wife were against the relationship as Kenneth is from a different religion. They were forcing Shwetha to end the relationship and return home.

“When the victims came to Shwetha’s flat on Sunday, Kenneth might not have been there to avoid complications. On Monday, the three went out and returned in the evening. Muthulakshmi, after seeing Kenneth in the flat, must have started arguing. During the heated argument, they murdered her and pushed her body into the bathroom. When Supriya started screaming for help, she must have been killed followed by Sundar,” said an officer.

The apartment’s security guard, Veer Bahadur, told the media that the three victims came to the flat on Sunday and Shwetha had gone to the security point to take them inside. On Monday, the victims returned to the flat around 8 pm and the incident happened around 9 pm. He said the accused had been staying for the last two months.

The bodies were shifted to a private hospital in Avalahalli for postmortem.
