THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the Assembly on Thursday that the Government was ready for any kind of probe by any investigating agency, even international ones, in the Kiliroor sex scandal case.
The Government has nothing to hide in this case as all the investigating procedures by the State police was transparent, the Minister said while replying to a submission by P.C.Vishnunath of the Congress.
The case was handed over to the CBI in January 2005 and the charge-sheet was filed before the High Court. But the court ordered more investigation into the case. If the CBI has failed to find the exact truth behind the case, it is not the responsibility of the State Government, he said.
The case was first registered and all the preliminary investigations were done during the tenure of the previous UDF Government. If there was any failure on the part of the investigating agency, the LDF Government should not be blamed for it, the Minister said.
The Chief Minister himself had made it clear in the House that the files pertaining to the case were not missing.
Soon after the LDF Government came to power, the Chief Minister had written to the Union Home Minister asking him to depute higherlevel officers of the CBI for the inquiry.
The letter written by the father of Sari was also included in the file. All these information have been given to the Information Commission by the Home Department.
If the Government has failed in giving any of the details about the case, then the Information Commission has every right to take action against the Government, the Home Minister said.
Earlier, Vishnunath said that the details relating to the case had been found missing from the Chief Minister’s Office.
This was evident from the reply received from the Information Commission.
The reply states that there was no information officer at the Chief Minister’s Office, he added.
