KOCHI: The Society should not forget the destitute and the marginalised while celebrating the Independence Day, said Justice T R Ramachandran Nair.

He was delivering the I-Day message at the ‘Snehasangamam’ on Independence Day jointly organised by the Customs Recreation Club and Peoples’ Council for Social Justice(PCSJ) at Palluruthy Relief Settlement.

Mayor Mercy Williams hoisted the National Flag.

The Mayor also received the inverter donated by Customs Recreation Club to the Relief Settlement. Clothes donated to the Settlement were received by Kumari, an inmate at the settlement.

Actor Harisree Asokan inaugurated the cultural programmes. The function was followed by a mimicry show by Sajan Palluruthy and a magic show by George Pullattu.

PCSJ secretary Krishnan Nair, Customs Recreation Club secretary T P Salim Kumar and Palluruthy Relief Settlement superintendent P J George spoke.
