ALAPPUZHA: The Chengannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Monday remanded Bibeesh Babu alias Basit Ali, 24, and Shanu Rasheed, 24, the accused in the Bhaskara Karanavar murder case, injudicial custody until January 11.
The court had granted eight day’s police custody of Bibeesh Babu alias Basit Ali, Nithin alias Unni, 28, - also an accused in the case - and Shanu Rasheed on December 19. Nithin was remanded to judicial custody on Saturday as his police custody ended that day.
However, Basit Ali and Shanu were not produced before the court on Saturday as they were taken to Bangalore by the investigation team for gathering evidence.
Chengannur CI Jyothikumar, who leads the investigation, said that the evidence collection was completed.
Basit Ali and Shanu were taken to Bangalore, Panaji and Mookambika for evidence collection.
The police had registered the arrest of the accused, who were absconding since the murder, on November 19.
After arresting the accused from Mookambika, they were brought to Karanavar’s Villa and the Chengannur railway station for evidence collection.
Bhaskara Karanaver was found murdered at his residence at Cheriyanadu on November 8. Karanavar’s daughter-in-law Sherin was apprehended in connection with the murder on November 12.
