ALUVA: Thousands of devotees thronged the Thiruvairanikkulam Mahadeva temple near here on Friday evening to have darsan of goddess Parvathy Devi, in connection with the 12-day Nadathurappu Festival.

Keeping the tradition, Akavoor Narayanan Namboodirippad and Kunjanujan Namboodirippad, the senior members of the Mana, handed over the Devi’s ornaments to A R Krishnan Namboodirippad, the representative of the temple Oorayma Manas, Mahadeva Temple Trust president P K Venugopal and secretary A N Mohanan.The holy ornaments of the Devi were taken to the temple from Akavoor Mana in a colourful procession at 4 pm.

Cherumukku Vaideekan Vasudevan Namboodirippad was appointed the ‘Samudayam Thirumeni’ by the representatives of the three Oorayma Manas of Akavoor, Vediyoor and Venmany to oversee the ceremonies of the Nadathurappu.

Devotees from different parts of the state and the neighbouring states flooded the temple premises from the noon onwards.

Chanting `Amme Narayana Devi Narayana’, the devotees had the darsan of Devi when the doors of the sanctum sanctorum was opened.

A strong contingent of police personnel, led by DySP P N Unnirajan, was deployed in the festival area. Police Superintendent P Vijayan supervised the arrangements. The KSRTC operated special services to Thiruvairanikkulam from different depots.
