T’PURAM: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has filed a case against former Minister and chairman of Indiavision channel M.K.Muneer and 10 others on charges of availing loan of Rs 3 crore from the State Cooperative Bank for the channel flouting norms.
VACB DySP M.H.Latheef filed the First Information Report at the Vigilance Special Court here on Friday.
Former state president of the bank K.R.Aravindakshan, managing director John Daniel and vice-president M.K.Raghavan are among the other accused.
The case is that Rs 3 crore was availed of as loan from the bank in 2003 without giving any proper application or security. The channel now owes a total of Rs 8 crore, including interest to the bank, the FIR said.
The Vigilance probe was ordered by Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on the basis of a recommendation by Cooperation Minister G.Sudhakaran.
