THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two words in Malayalam, `copy kittiyitilla’ (copy not received) written by former Chief Minister E K Nayanar may call the bluff of former minister A Neelalohitadasan Nadar’s argument in the Nalini Netto harassment case and the alleged forgery of document to escape punishment.

Following Nalini Netto’s complaint Nayanar had sought the explanation of Neelalohitadas. In the reply submitted to Nayanar on February 10, 2000, Neelan denies the allegation of sexual harassment and mentioned that he has submitted a note proposing Nalini’s transfer from the post of Transport Secretary. He also mentions in brackets that copy of the transfer note is attached.

It is regarding this that the Chief Minister has noted in his own handwriting on the side of the reply that the copy has not been received and signed beneath it giving the time and date.

It is this mysterious transfer note that has become the focus of attention once again following revelations that the document produced in court by the defence may have been forged. The document which was purportedly written by Neelan to the then Chief Minister and `received in original’ by Section Officer C Vijayakumari Amma has turned out to be forged as Vijayakumari herself has said that she joined the Transport Department only in May 2000, whereas the letter is dated February 1, 2000.

At a press conference convened to refute the allegations of forgery, Neelan reportedly said that nobody had said then that the note was not received and in reply to a question he confirmed that no one, including the then Chief Minister, had said that the note was not received.
