PATHANAMTHITTA: NSS general secretary P K Narayana Panicker has stressed the need for giving extra care in the upbringing of the new generation by making them understand the country’s rich culture and heritage.

Inaugurating the new building of the 4,372nd Mallika Kizhaku Karayogam at Thattayil near Pandalam and unveiling a portrait of NSS founder Mannathu Padmanabhan at the karayogam hall on Sunday, Narayana Panicker said the young professionals, who work for 15 to 20 hours a day, are facing premature retirement owing to severe tension and extreme pressure conditions at workplace. The situation will not be good for them and for society as a whole, he said. Awareness among the new generation is needed in the selection of new courses so that they could have a better life without mental stress and strain, he said.

The NSS leader called upon the NSS Vanitha Samajams to take up the lead role in creating an awareness on the upbringing of new generation. Panicker said that the members of samajams should utilise the self-help groups in their respective areas for their empowerment.

Panicker said that the coming generation holds the key for the future of the community and the NSS. Equal importance should be given to the selection of a new career and also to make the new generation aware of the rich traditions and culture. Pandalam NSS taluk union president Pandalam Sivankutty presided over the function.

R Goplakrishna Pilai, Thoppil Krishna Kurup, K Chandrangada Kurup, B Narendranath, A K Vijayan, P N Ramakrishna Pillai, K R Vijayan Pillai and R Ramachandra Kurup offered felicitations.

Former karayogam president N Sureshbabu welcomed the gathering and Santha Ramachandran  proposed a vote of thanks.  Earlier, the NSS general secretary and other dignitaries were given a tradition reception on their arrival at the junction and were led in a procession led by thalapoli and caparisoned elephants.
