THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amrita TV will telecast special programmes to mark the World Environment Day on Friday. The day will start with Amrita TV’s longest-running morning show ‘Udayamritham’ featuring a special episode at 6.30 a.m.

Three of United Nations Television’s (UNTV) ‘21st Century Series’ which puts a spotlight on the world’s most underreported stories will be telecast. These will be telecast at 10.30 a.m. under the capsule ‘Ee Thaalam Nilakkumo.’ The films are ‘Sustainable Development in the Amazon,’ ‘Saving Black Sea Dolphins with Sound’ and `Bali: Rejuvenating the Reefs.’ Two Greenpeace public service announcements (PSA) will be aired; `Breathe In, Breathe Out’ and ‘Rainwater Harvesting’ directed by actor-director Nandita Das for the Centre for Science and Environment.

The documentary `Malinya Samskaranam Avasya Samskaranam’ which explains eco-friendly domestic waste management will be telecast at 3.30 p.m.

Amrita TV’s docu-serial on farming, ‘Harita Bharatham,’ which won last year’s Kerala State Award for the best farm-based TV programme in Malayalam will feature a special episode at 5 p.m. on a mother-daughter duo in Kerala who have transformed a 4-acre homestead into a man-made forest in Alappuzha.
