KOLLAM: The three-day Thirunalloor Kavyolsavam under the auspices of Thirunalloor Smrithi Kendram will commence at the Public Library hall here on May 1.
A week-long children’s book festival will also begin on Friday.
The programmes will begin with the introductory remarks of Thengamam Balakrishnan, the president of the Smrithi Kendram. K.Ravindranathan Nair will deliver the keynote address and `Kerala Sabdam’ managing editor B.A.Rajakrishnan will release the souvenir.
More than 25 singers and poets will participate in the programme titled `Anthimayangumbol’, a presentation of the poems and songs of Thirunalloor in the evening. Drawing and recitation competitions for children will be held in the morning session of the second day. Novelist Kakkanadan will interact with the children.
In the evening, a symposium on `Changing face of Kerala politics’ will be held in which M.P.Veerendrakumar, Thalekkunnil Basheer and P.Rajeev MP will participate.
Ninan Koshy, Hameed Chennamangalur, Pannian Ravindran and N.P.Chekutty will participate in the seminar on `Religion and politics’ on the third day of the programmes.
A `smrithi sangamam’ participated by the friends, disciples and the readers of Thirunalloor will be held in the evening. A visual adaptation of Thirunalloor’s poem `Adyathe Theevandi’ (The First Train) will be staged on the occasion.
