

ALAPPUZHA: Sea erosion and rain have wreaked havoc in various parts of the coastal district for the last two days. Several families on the coasts of Thumboli, Arattupuzha, Purakkad and other areas are reeling under the threat of evacuation with the sea inching closer to their houses.
According to district administration, one house constructed under tsunami rehabilitation programme at Thumboli was partially destroyed.
Six families were shifted to a relief camp at Khadi Building in Aryad South grama panchayat in Ambalappuzha taluk after their houses where submerged in water.
Following the tidal attacks, water entered five houses in Vattachalmuri in Karthikapally taluk.
Meanwhile, around 10 houses were reported to have been partially damaged in Kadakarapally village and Pattanakkad village in Cherthala taluk due to heavy winds and rains.
One house was partially damaged at Veeyapuram village in Karthikapally taluk.
