THEKKADY: Uniting her only child in the lap of death might have been the destiny of Senthil Kumari, one of the victims in the boat mishap. Rather, providence apparently decided in that way, her relatives believe.

Five-year-old Aiswarya, the only kid of Senthilkumari and Ramaswami Rajasekharan, who had also lost his life in the tragedy was reportedly hesitant to go for the illfated boat ride. But she was taken by the couple, especially on the prodding of Senthil Kumari, since they couldn't think of leaving her in the hotel room. The decision had eventually resulted in not leaving the kid all alone in life also, while the entire family had a ride together to death. The three-member family was on a pleasure trip to various exotic places in Kerala, including Munnar, and had finally landed here in the last leg of the trip.

The long wait for retrieving the bodies of Senthilkumari, 36, and Aiswarya, from the boat mishap site has virtually turned family members distraught.

Many of the relatives of Senthilkumari and her husband Ramaswami, who had come from Chennai and other places, had been staying here for the past couple of days.

The body of Rajasekharan was retrieved from the waters on Thursday itself and it was kept in the mortuary of the Periyar Hospital here, after postmortem examination.

After the tracing of bodies of Aiswarya and Senthil Kumari on Saturday morning, it was taken to the Government Primary Health Centre at Kumily, where the postmortem examinations were held.

The bodies were later taken to the Periyar Hospital in two separate ambulances with mobile mortuary facilities.

The body of Rajasekharan, which was lying in state there, was also shifted to a mobile morgue in another ambulance. The three ambulances then set off its final journey to Chennai around 2.30 pm.
