NEW DELHI: Eminent scholar and critic in Malayalam literature, Akavoor Narayanan, passed away here on Wednesday. He was 80.

Born in Akavoor Mana in Ernakulam District, Narayanan Nambudiripad started his career as a Malayalam lecturer with the Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur.

After a brief stint, he left the job and shifted to New Delhi in 1961 and worked with Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity.

Later, he joined Delhi University as lecturer in Malayalam in 1968 and continued there till he retired in 1994.
