THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The film awards instituted by World Malayalee Council-India Region and Kairali television channel will be distributed at a glittering function to be held at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here on Sunday. The programme will begin at 5.30 p.m.

‘Calcutta News’, directed by Blessy, has been adjudged the best film and Blessy has won the award for the best director for this work. Dileep is the best actor (‘Calcutta News’, ‘Mulla’) and Priyamani is the best actress (‘Thirakkatha’).

Thilakan will receive the award for living legend and M.S. Viswanathan will be honoured for making Malayali presence felt in other languages.

Major Ravi, director of ‘Kurukshethra’, and Santhosh Damodar, the producer of the film, will get the award for national integration. Kalyani Menon will receive special jury award.

Radhakrishnan (‘Thirakkatha’), Art direction- Sabu Ram (‘Thirakkatha’, ‘Kurukshethra’), Editing- Ranjan Abraham (‘Twenty-20’, ‘Veruthe Oru Bharya’), Music- M. Jayachandran (‘Madambi’), Lyrics- Gireesh Puthenchery (‘Madambi’), Playback (male)- Yesudas (‘Madambi’), Playback (female)- Aparna Rajeev (‘Mizhikal Sakshi’), Script- Renjith (‘Thirakkatha’), Choreography- Sujatha (‘Twenty-20’), Stunts- Siva (‘Twenty-20’), Child artist- Sonu, Monu (‘Annan Thambi’) Arathalakkal Ravi will receive the award for his contributions to Malayalam cinema. Mammootty will receive the ‘Hercules Favourite Hero’ award based on the road show conducted from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram.

Other winners: Actress- Gopika, Director- Anwar Rashid, Cinema- ‘Twenty-20’, Comedian- Suraj Venjarammoodu, Young actor- Vineeth Sreenivasan, Young actress- Roma.

Entry to the function will be restricted through free passes.
