GURUVAYUR: The Sreemad Bhagavatha Sapthaham being held in connection with the Ashtamirohini celebrations at the Sree Krishna temple here will begin at the Melpathur Auditorium at 3 pm on Monday with the recital of the Bhagavatha Mahatmyam.

Temple Ooralan Mallissery Parameswaran Namboothiripad will light the Bhadradeepam to mark the beginning of the Sapthaham.

Bhagavatha scholars Guruvayur Kesavan Namboothiri, Perumpilly Kesavan Namboothiri, Adukkam Harinarayanan Namboothiri, Thattayoor Krishnan Namboothiri, Mecheri Govindan Namboothiri, V Achuthan Kutty and Kalluvally Madhavan Namboothiri will recite the Mahatmyam.

Sapthaha Acharyan Thamarassery Sankaran Bhattathiri will deliver the discourse on the Mahatmyam and Thuravur Viswambharan will deliver the keynote address.

Bhagavatha scholars Venmani Krishnan Namboothiri, Vidwan Bhaskaran Nair, Swami Chidananda Saraswathi, Vaidyalinga Sharma, Anjam Krishnan Namboothiri, Paleli Narayanan Namboothiri, Thottam Shyam Namboothiri, Guruvayur Maniswamy, Swami Sanmayananda Saraswathi and P C C Elayath are among those who will recite the Bhagavatham and deliver discourses.

The Sree Krishna Avatharam (Sreemad Bhagavatham Canto X, Chapter 3) will be recited on the Ashtamirohini day between 10 am and 11 am.

The Sanskrit text (Moolam) of the Bhagavatham will be recited during the Sapthaham every day from 5 am to 10.15 am and from 2 pm to 3.30 pm.

The recitals will be followed by discourses. The Sapthaham will conclude with Samarpanam on September 14.
