KOZHIKODE: Officials of North Kerala Vigilance, Kozhikode, submitted the chargesheet against former PWD Minister M K Muneer and seven others in the Thrissur Vigilance Court on Wednesday. The case was registered following a complaint that the PWD allotted work for a vested interest group in 2005, when Muneer was the Minister for PWD.
According to the complaint, various public works worth `92 crore were allotted without floating tenders. The Vigilance Court has received the chargesheet that mentions that the government suffered a loss of `14.22 lakh in the work of Alamkunnu-Narukara Road under Manjeri division of the PWD.
Along with Muneer, contractor Varikkodan Abdul Lathief, assistant executive engineer of Manjeri K P Mohammed, executive engineer and personal assistant to the superintending engineer P A Paulson, superintending engineer K P Prabhakaran and former superintending engineer Mohammed Farook are charged with the Prevention of Corruption Act and Conspiracy.
