THRISSUR: The Sanchayanam of K Karunakaran was performed here on Wednesday.
According to his family members and state Congress leaders, the ashes, after being taken to Karunakaran's stronghold of Mala for the public to pay homage, would be immersed at Thirunavaya on January 8. Karunakaran's children K Muraleedharan and Padmaja performed the sanchayanam rites.
Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, Union Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, treasurer C N Balakrishnan, Therambil Ramakrishnan MLA and DCC president Benny Behanan were present.
