KOZHIKODE: Even after getting enough evidence proving the misuse of power and money to influence the judiciary and witnesses by P K Kunhalikutty, it appears that attempts are on to weaken the ice-cream parlour sex scandal case once again, according to K Ajitha, social activist and president of Anweshi Women's Counselling Centre.

In the memorandum submitted to Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, Ajitha expressed certain concerns over the ongoing investigation of the icecream parlour case in the wake of fresh disclosures by K A Rauf, cobrother of Muslim League leader Kunhalikutty.

"Initially, it seemed that the special investigation team led by ADGP Vincent M Paul, and comprising honest police officers were actively conducting the investigation.

Meanwhile, the elections were announced and consequently, the investigation decelerated. The accused had got enough time to influence the witnesses and to destroy fresh evidence. We are afraid that the police team has decided that further action in the case shall be taken only after realising who will come to power next in the state. We doubt that attempts are being made to weaken the case," says Ajitha in the petition, a copy of which was issued here on Thursday.

The memorandum requests the chief minister to bring the 'criminal political leader', who has gravely influenced the political and administrative levels, before the law on the basis of fresh evidence.
