THRISSUR: Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has launched an innovative system through which farmers can gather information on availability of seeds, seedlings and other KAU products, training programmes, new technologies, pest control methods as well as contact numbers of scientists for special guidance through mobile phone SMS.
All that farmers need to do for availing themselves of the ‘Mobile Technology Information Service’ is to register their names with the Agricultural Technology Information Centre,
Mannuthy, P V Balachandran, director of extension, KAU, has said. This can be done either by providing the required information, including name, address and mobile number of the information seeker, either by post to the officer on special duty, ATIC, Mannuthy-680651, by calling ATIC numbers 0487-2371340 or 2370540, or by sending an SMS (KAU-space-name and address) to 537252.
