KOTTAYAM: The winners of the Ayyappa Panicker Memorial Inter-University Poetry Awards 2010, instituted by the Department of Printing and Publishing of Mahatma Gandhi University(MGU), have been announced.

P Jimshar, BA Journalism, Minority Arts and Science College, Palakkad, has won the first prize. P J Jayadevan, BTech (automobile) student, Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Thiruvilwamala, Thrissur, and S R Aswathy Raj, KKTM Government College, Kodungallur, have secured the second and third places, respectively.

P P Raveendran, D Vinayachandran and V M Girija were the judges for this year’s poetry competition. Around 100 students from the departments and affiliated colleges of all the universities in Kerala participated in the competition.

The winners of the first three places will be awarded `3,000, `2,000 and `1,000, respectively, and a certificate, at a function to be organised here by February end.
