KOLLAM: The newly-formed Malankara Orthodox Church diocese of Kottarakara-Punalur with its headquarters at Kottarakkara will be inaugurated on January 23.
Catholicos of the East and the Supreme Head of the Orthodox Church Baselios Paulose II will inaugurate the diocese at a ceremony to be held at Malankara Orthodox Christian centre at Kottarakkara at 4 p.m, a statement by Biju Thankachan, chairman of the programme committee, said.
Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi will inaugurate the public function. Dr Yuhonan Mar Devadoros will preside over the meeting. Former minister and KC (B) chairman R Balakrishna Pillai, Kodikunnil Suresh MP, P.Aisha Potty MLA, M G George Muthoot and others will offer felicitations.
On January 22, the Bishop of Kollam-Punalur diocese will be consecrated at a ceremony to be held at Orthodox church, Chemmanthoor, at 9.15 a m.
