He was speaking at a meeting convened here on Wednesday to decide on organising Ashtamudi Jalotsavam.  N Peethambara Kurup MP, in his introductory speech, said that President’s trophy will be given to the winners of Ashtamudi Jalotsavam, which is being organised for the first time. Efforts are on to make it one of the most popular regattas in Asia, he added.

The meeting was presided over by District Collector P G Thomas.  Mayor Prasanna Earnest, former ministers Kadavoor Sivadasan, Babu Divakaran, Director of Tourism Rani George, DTDC officials and representatives of merchants and industrialists from the district were also present.
