KOCHI: The Income Tax Department has filed an investigation report on former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan's son in law P V Sreenijan, who is facing allegations of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

IT Department sources said that the report had been submitted before the IT Commissioner and the future course of action against Sreenijan would be taken after analysing the report.

"The investigators looked into the assets owned by Sreenijan and the amount of money utilised to buy the movable and immovable assets.

"The department is also preparing probe reports on the other relatives of Justice Balakrishnan, against whom allegations have been levelled for amassing wealth," the officials said.

"The probe has confirmed that Justice Balakrishnan's relatives had used only solid cash for all major land transactions which took place during a particular period of time," the sources added.

Sreenijan and the other close relatives of Justice Balakrishnan came under the scanner of the IT Department after a New Delhibased journalist filed a petition before the office of the VicePresident of India alleging that the relatives of Justice Balakrishnan had amassed wealth while the latter was the Chief Justice of India.
