THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Industries Department has finalised the priority list of the developmental projects to be implemented in the one year action plan giving focus on speedy implementation of ongoing projects and establishment of micro, small and medium enterprises.
Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty submitted the proposal to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday. The industry policy of the Government will focus on implementing the mega projects in a time-bound manner.
According to the report 6000 Micro and Small and Medium enterprises in manufacturing and service sector will be established in facilitation with Directorate of Industries and Commerce. 175 enterprises will be set up under Women’s Industries Scheme.
There are plans to set up 728 enterprises under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme. Around 150 educated youth will be provided with financial assistance to start industries. A new company, Kerala High Speed Rail Corporation, will be formed to implement the High Speed Rail Corridor project from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore.
The feasibility study will be completed this year and steps will be taken for the Detailed Project Report and means of funding. The first phase of the Life Science Park at Thiruvananthapuram in Vailoor with facilities for incubation centre, biotech units and other supporting infrastructure will be created. The first phase of Supplementary Gas Infrastructure in Kerala by KSIDC and GAIL will start this year.
The Kochi-Coimbatore Industrial Corridor will be taken up for inclusion in the National Investment and Manufacturing Investment Zones (NIMZs).
Kinfra will undertake common dyeing plant at Kannur, Rural Apparel Park at Idukki, Standard Design Factory at Piravanthoor, commencement of second phase of development at Kinfra Export Promotion Industrial Park, Kochi. The other new projects under Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme to be taken up this year is Green Building Complex at High-Tech Park, Kalamassery, International Animation School at Thiruvananthapuram and Knowledge Park at Thrissur.
The new polices in sectors like industry, IT, tourism, Special Economic Zone and labour will be framed in one year.
