THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI court examining the witnesses in the sensational Kiliroor Sex Scam case has made it clear that the ‘VIP link’ and the allegations of a conspiracy evolved out of it are matters which needn’t be probed at this juncture, as there is no mention of it in the charge-sheet filed by the prosecution or the statements of witnesses. The court permitted the prosecution to raise the issue whenever evidence adduced to supplement arguments.

The court, while examining the victim’s father Surendran on Thursday, observed that the comments on the VIP angle and conspiracy needn’t be stressed as it was not connected with the content of the prosecution case built so far.

Surendran submitted before the court that his daughter was admitted to the Kottayam District Hospital while he was under the impression that she was having severe stomach ache. But after three days, she gave birth to a daughter.  He also told the court that Praveen, listed as one of the key-accused in the case, was the father of the child. Though Praveen had promised to marry her, he didn’t keep his word, he told the court. Surendran identified all the accused except Soman, listed as the seventh accused.

The examination of the victim’s mother also began on Thursday. She deposed that she was forced to hide the pregnancy of her daughter as she feared for her life. Her cross-examination will continue on Friday.
