KANNUR: The law is taking its own course even as some of the CPM leaders are calling upon their young followers to take law into their own hands. Closely on the heels of CPM leader M V Jayarajan who had exhorted SFI workers to beat up Kozhikode North Assistant Commissioner of Police Radhakrishna Pillai forcing the police to file a criminal case against him, senior party leader T Sivadasa Menon has been charged with the same offence by the Thalassery Town Police.

The Thalassery police filed a case against Sivadasa Menon, a state secretariat member of the CPM, who had stated while addressing the C H Kanaran memorial meet at Thalassery Bus Stand on Thursday that there was nothing wrong in beating up the police official even if he was spotted in uniform.

He stated that he had a temptation to smash the TV set when he saw the visuals of SFI leader Biju being beaten up by the police.

Sivadasa Menon went a step ahead of his junior colleague Jayarajan, who had said that Radhakrishna Pillai should be beaten up whenever he was found without uniform.

He made the comment while addressing a protest meeting organised by the SFI demanding action against the ACP who had fired at the agitating SFI activists in Kozhikode.

With the police planning to haul up veteran CPM leader Sivadasa Menon too to the court, the entire issue is likely to trigger a fresh bout of heated debate in the state politics.
