SABARIMALA: Noted playback singer K J Yesudas was honoured with the first Harivarasanam award, instituted by the State Government, at a function held at Sree Dharma Sastha auditorium here on Saturday.
Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar presented the award at the function, which was held after the deeparadhana at the temple at 7 p.m.
Chief Secretary and chairman of the Sabarimala highpowered committee K Jayakumar read out the felicitation note.
Travancore Devaswom Board president M Rajagopalan Nair presented a gold locket with the emblem of Lord Ayyappa to Yesudas on the occasion.
Raju Abraham MLA, presided over the function.Rajagopalan Nair welcomed the gathering. Anto Antony MP, delivered the key-note address.
Special commissioner S Jagadeesh offered felicitations. Devaswom Commissioner N Vasu proposed a vote of thanks. Three-hour Concert After the award-presentation function, Yesudas conducted a three-hour-long concert.
Thousands of devotees, including those from the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, were enthralled by the concert.
Yesudas concluded his concert with Harivarasanam at 11 pm.
