THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government-owned Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE) has made a profit of Rs 7 crore in the last fiscal registering a 60 percent increase compared to that of the previous year.

When compared to the previous year, the exports from Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram has increased during 2011-12.

A total of 28,850 tonnes of cargo was exported from Thiruvananthapuram and 15,550 tonnes from Kozhikode.

KSIE chairman M C Mayin Haji and managing director Febi Varghese said that there are plans to increase the exports from both these airports this fiscal. The Cochin International Freight Station coming up at Kalamassery at a cost of Rs 46 crore will be completed soon. The construction activities of a shopping mall in association with Inkel at Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram will start this financial year.

 The Kerala Soaps functioning under KSIE has recorded 50 per cent increase in sales.

The turnover of Kerala Soaps this year will be Rs 10 crore.  There are also plans for KSIE to start cargo service from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. KSIE will join with United Nations to implement Rs 120 crore project to reduce global warming.
