Ambi Swami alias M S Krishnayyar, 77, the culinary expert famous for his sumptuous traditional Brahmin sadya , passed away at his residence here on Sunday, after a prolonged heart ailment. His expertise had even earned him a citation from former Chief Minister C Achutha Menon.
All the functions at former Chief Minister K Karunakaran’s residence were catered to by Ambi Swami. Besides, it was Swami who had been serving food for millions at the Guruvayur Krishna Inn since 1999. Swami is renowned for his paalada pradhaman, which was served at every youth festival. He used to lead a team of cooks at the state school youth festivals until recently. Swami is survived by wife Narayani Ammal, sons Sangameshran, Sheshadri alias Suresh Ambi Swami, Hariharan, Rajkumar (Prakash), Anil, Sunil and Venugopal and daughters Parvaty and Ambili.
