Eranad MLA P K Basheer has been made the sixth accused in the Kuni twin murder case. The case was filed on the basis of a complaint lodged by the relatives of Kolakkadan Aboobacker and Kolakkadan Azad stating that a speech made by the MLA in a public function at Kuni was the provocation for the murder.
However, the MLA denied all the charges levelled against him and said that he was ready to face the investigation. He added that it was his responsibility to help the grieving family of Atheek Rahman. He made the speech at a function organised to help the family of Atheek on June 3.
“The Kolakkadan family has personal and political enmity against me. They are trying to tarnish the image of myself and my party. I have the support of my party and an unbiased investigation will prove my innocence,” he told ‘Express’. IUML secretary K Kutty Ahmed Kutty said he did not believe that P K Basheer was involved in the murder conspiracy. “It is not fair to comment at the moment without having a meeting with the party leadership,” he added.
Condemned
