Spirit, the Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal in the lead and currently running to packed houses, has been exempted from entertainment tax.
Panchayat and Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer made the announcement while replying to a submission raised by P C Vishnunath seeking it in the Assembly on Monday.
Attesting to the plea in the submission that promoting films like `Spirit’ would go a long way in awakening social consciousness against the dangers posed by addiction to liquor, the Minister said that the movie gave a right message to the masses. ‘’The movie `Spirit’ is being exempted from entertainment tax,’’ Muneer announced.
He congratulated Renjith, director of ‘Spirit’, actor Mohanlal and other members in the team who were behind the making of the film.
