KANNUR: CPM district secretary P Jayarajan has alleged that the Muslim League leaders are trying to communalise political clashes and that the consequences of their action will be dangerous.

The CPM district secretary denied the charges levelled against his party by the Muslim League leaders who visited the house of the slain League worker Abdul Shukoor on Wednesday, and said that the allegations made by the League leaders were aimed at protecting the extremists in their party. P Jayarajan said that the statement made by the Muslim League leaders would only serve to encourage the extremists to go ahead with their communal agenda.

The Muslim League leaders who visited the violence-hit Taliparamba region on Wednesday had stated that the CPM was trying to revive Naxalite model political extremism in the state, organising violent clashes and murders.

The CPM district secretary said that the extremist group in the IUML had organised violent attacks against the CPM leaders and these attacks were the cause of the series of political clashes that took place in the Taliparamba region. The attack on the Maktab Press and the move to set two shops on fire in Taliparamba also were part of the extremist plan to communalise the clashes, he said.

He said that the police must disclose all the information received in this connection to keep the public aware of the nefarious activities of the extremists. He said that the League was trying to block the efforts being made by the police to check the spread of communal violence.
