At last, the RSS leadership in the state has bared its mind on the ongoing row over an article carried in the recent issue of RSS mouthpiece ‘Kesari’ suggesting the need for cooperation between the CPM and the RSS.

RSS Pranthkaryavah (state secretary) P Gopalan Kutty Master said RSS was only interested in igniting the ‘Hindu swabhiman’ in the hearts of Hindus who have been stuck up in the CPM and not a close- knit relation between the leadership of both organisations.

Speaking to ‘Express’ on Saturday, he said what was expressed in the article was that of the writer and not the official view of the RSS. But he agreed that there has been truths, half-truths and elements of wishful thinking in the article by the author.

“We do not want to hold any kind of discussions with the CPM leadership for churning out a forced friendship. But it is a fact that majority of the CPM cadre are Hindus and they have started realising the follies of their leadership and want to work in tandem with the RSS,’’ he claimed.

He claimed that large number of CPM cadre in Kannur and Kasargod districts had come to them and told them that they had realised their folly in opposing RSS for wrong reasons.

They were being misguided by their leaders.

Many of them, infact, want to join RSS. ‘’In the given situation we cannot ensure the personal security of those who want to join the Sangh severing ties with CPM. So we advised them to keep in touch with us and they are free to visit our offices and wait for some time to understand us and our ideology,’’ he said.

When pointed out that RSS Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagavath had stated in Ranchi the other day that there were swayamsevaks in the Congress and Left parties, he said Sarsanghchalak might have been airing the feedback he received from here.

Meanwhile, T G Mohandas, the general manager of RSS-owned Ayodhya Publications, who wrote the article, said the ongoing discussions had proved that his stand has been vindicated.

‘’It is not the first time that discussions in the direction of CPM -RSS friendship taking place here,’’ he said.

He claimed that in these discussions RSS leaders P Parameswaran, R Hari, and the late P Madhavan, Dethopanth Dhengdi, CPM leaders the late P Ramamurthy, T K Ramakrishnan, E K Nayanar and M M Lawrence had participated.

On some of these occasions, Justice V R Krishna Iyer had acted as a mediator, he claimed.
