The Panachikkad Dakshina Mookambika Temple is all set to celebrate the nine-day-long Navaratri festival which begins on Tuesday.
Special poojas will be conducted at the temple during the festival.
There will be musicals and classical dance performances by artists hailing from various parts of India.
An event named ‘national music and dance festival’ will be inaugurated by Purandeswari, Minister of State for Human Resource Development (Higher Education), at 6 pm on Tuesday.
Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will preside over the function and Jose K Mani MP will deliver the keynote address.
On October 22, the day of Durgashtami, a holy procession carrying palm leaf manuscripts (Thaliyola) and books will be taken out to the temple.
The books and palm leaf manuscripts will be kept in front of the idols to conduct the special poojas.
There will be special ceremonies on both Maha Navami day on October 23 and Vijayadasami day on October 24. As part of the festival, Gaudiya, a form of Bengali classical dance, will be performed by Mahua Mukherjee.
On October 17 a mandolin concert will be conducted by U P Raju from Chennai, and classical singer Sreevatsan J Menon will give a musical concert the next day.
Kuchipudi dancer Uma Murali from Chennai, and classical singer Madurai T N S Krishna will perform on October 19 and October 20 respectively.
On October 24, there will be a Kathakali performance.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and BJP state president V Muraleedharan are also expected to take part in the functions.
