The Crime Branch (CB) team investigating the Kizhakkambalam robbery which was conducted for the funding of terror strike in Coimbatore will approach the Kolenchery Judicial First Class Magistrate for the production warrant of terror accused Vedimara Thajudheen.

The CB had marked the arrest of Thajudheen last month at Bangalore jail but he is yet to be handed over to the Crime Branch custody for interrogation.

Though the Crime Branch had sought the custody of Thajudheen earlier, because of the court proceedings of the Bangalore bomb blast case, he could not be taken into custody.

“We will first approach the Kolencherry Judicial First Class Magistrate for the production warrant. Later it will be filed before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bangalore. “His custody is important as he is suspected to have made the bomb used for conducting the robbery,” the Crime Branch sources said.

The Crime Branch had interrogated Thajudheen at Bangalore jail and he had denied his involvement in the Kizhakkambalam robbery.

He was well trained in bomb making and the Crime Branch suspected that the bomb used for Kizhakkambalam robbery was made with the assistance of Thajudheen.

But when the Crime Branch interrogated Thajudheen at Bangalore jail, he had named some other persons who are trained in bomb making. “But these persons have not been tracked down by the security agencies in the country. We are investigating about them with assistance of other agencies,” a Crime Branch official said.

The Crime Branch after the arrest of Thadiyantavide Nazir in the case had taken him to the residence of Thajudheen at Vedimara and the people in the locality had identified him. They had submitted that he used to visit Thajudheen’s house several times.

On the basis of this the Crime Branch suspected that plot for the Kizhakkambalam robbery was hatched with his assistance.
